Work begins on Breckenridge Peak 7 and Peak 8 Base Development
Vail Resorts kicked off development of The Peaks of Breckenridge master-planned community at
Breckenridge ski area, with the start of road and utility construction.
Several years in the making, The Peaks will be a ski-in/ski-out community that includes the new Peak
7 Village and the redeveloped Peak 8 Village.
The neighborhoods will sit at the bases of Peaks 7 and 8, and have access to the peaks via a previously
announced gondola -- the Peak 7 Independence SuperChair -- slated to begin construction this spring.
The eight-person gondola is scheduled to open by Christmas.
The town of Breckenridge has committed $6.7 million toward the gondola's construction.
In addition to housing, the new development will offer skier services, lodging, restaurants and a spa.
The Peaks' development is being overseen Vail Resorts Development Co. (VRDC).
- The new Peak 7 Village includes the following:
- 44 wholly owned, luxury condos with one to four bedrooms plus "an array of guest amenities
and skier services," according to Vail Resorts. Developed by VRDC.
- 114 fractional ownership units, plus amenities such as a spa, swimming pool and hot tubs.
Developed by Grand Timber Development Co. of Breckenridge, which also built the 159-unit
Grand Timber Lodge there.
Vail Resorts is selling Grand Timber Development a Peak 7 village parcel for $9.5 million for its
fractional project. The deal is scheduled to close in December. The developer plans to begin unit sales
in late 2007.
